Radiologist With Type 1 Diabetes Shares What Diet Works for Him

He tried the standard dietary recommendations and soon attempted restricting carbohydrates to see what would happen. In this video he gives a presentation that helps explain why he personally follows a low-carb diet. In the video he shares his before and after blood sugar results. Before, his blood sugar levels averaged at 7.8 mmol/L, which is 140 mg/dL. His A1c was estimated to be about 7%. After eating a low-carb diet he states that his average blood sugar is 5.0 mmol/L which is 90 mg/dL and that he never goes over 7.5 mmol/L or 156 mg/dL and rarely gets a low blood sugar. He also shares that he cycles many miles without needing carbohydrates because he burns fat for fuel.
