After years of experimenting with my food, I learned about plant-based diet through “Fork over Knives” — a documentary about plant-based diet. The plant-based diet focuses on whole, unrefined or minimally refined plants. This doesn’t mean salad for life, but eating ‘whole’, minimally processed versions of plants. It's a diet based on fruits, vegetables, tubers, whole grains, and legumes; and it excludes or minimizes meat (including chicken and fish), dairy products, and eggs, as well as highly refined foods like bleached flour, refined sugar, and oil. The plant based diet is actually also called the Heart Healthy Diet.
