Alternative or herbal medicine has been around for thousands of years—it is generally a more natural approach to maintaining health or treating illnesses. Cinnamon is considered to be one of these traditional herbal medicines because it is thought to improve insulin activity.
In fact, a research study out of China showed that cinnamon supplementation significantly improved blood glucose (or blood sugar) in patients with type 2 diabetes.
With that being said, it is very unlikely that supplementing your diet with cinnamon alone will treat or reverse your type 2 diabetes. If you are currently using cinnamon on a daily basis, feel free to continue with that, but if you are wanting to make a conscious effort to increase your daily intake make sure your doctor is aware of this and on board.
If you are interested in improving your condition through diet, reducing your carbohydrate intake and increasing your fat intake can help improve your blood sugar control.
