Help what?
Though, Iād say, yesā¦ it helps pretty much everything!
Think about it this way, if anyone tells you that itās a load of bunkā¦ Paleo, is simply the study of how our ancestors ate and lived ā as closely as we can scientifically determine, and that is always changing ā and using what we learn as a TEMPLATE to choose the modern foods, methods of preparation and lifestyle that is available to people today.
In doing so, we are most assured of the best chance for good health. (with the possible exception of drastic genetic mutations)
The absolute best VERSION of Paleo is āThe Wahls Protocolā (levels 2 and 3) which is a VERY ānutrient denseā version. I say this, because there are foods that technically fall into the Paleo category but are not necessarily as nutrient dense as one might hope.
Also, paleolithic man would often likely have gone into ketosis during cold winters and dry seasons (and some even longer during ice ages) when fewer vegetables and fruits were available and Wahls level 3 is ketogenic. (relying on fueling ones body with fat/ketones rather than glucose)
There are many aspects of the āStandard American Dietā (SAD) which are absolutely detrimental to health that short-term and flawed (follow the money) studies say are healthy.
Many studies are done on already healthy individuals and show that, everything else being equal, show certain food additives are harmless.
However, if a person has developed a āpermeable gutā (like having a rash on your inside, in your intestines) from MANY food additives over time, or other poor choices, then several food additives or ānewā food strains that are unlike their ancient cousins can suddenly, detrimentally affect your gut microbiome, or enter your bloodstream when they would otherwise be stopped by a healthy gut wall. (kind of like putting creams and lotions and makeup on your skin when your skin is compromised by a pimply, red rash)
So, yeahā¦ it helps because it is a diet and lifestyle of avoiding things that marketing and lobbyists have conned you into thinking are safe, and nourishing yourself with foods that your great-grandmother would have eaten but which you are avoidingā¦ like liverā¦ and egg yolks and grass-fed butter and broccoli!!! ;-)
