Which are some remedies to cure or treat type 2 diabetes?

A lot of money has poured into diabetes research in this century, because of the increasing prevalence of diabetes, as well as the rising burden of its complications on healthcare systems. New classes of medications are in development by large pharmaceutical companies, some of the newer ones include GLP-1 receptor agonists and DPP-4 inhibitors. New types of insulin are also being developed, for example some of which have pharmacokinetic profiles that reduce the risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia. In the works is also an ‘artificial pancreas’ - which is basically a closed loop insulin pump/sensor system that can maintain blood glucose levels within normal ranges dynamically and with minimal human input required. If you (or a loved one) is dealing with diabetes this is well worth reading as well: REVERSE DIABETES TODAY The field of epigenetics (which was a direct result of the work carried out at the human genome project) has shown us that while the DNA in our make-up remains fix

Why Paleo Diet critics are wrong

Why Paleo Diet critics are wrong -- Here's what they don't understand If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of THE best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular “fad” diets out there. The truth is that the Paleo Diet will NEVER be considered a “fad” because it’s just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 1.9 million years.  And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most “diseases of civilization” such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it’s a meat-eat

Is type 1 or type 2 diabetes worse?

By  Rachel Adams , T1 diabetic for most of my life (www.quora.com) --------- Type 1 without a doubt. Both are terrible shitty conditions, but most people with T2 get to enjoy decades of normal life whereas most people with T1 are diagnosed as children/teens. Some, including myself, can’t remember much about my life before my diagnosis. T2 can often be controlled via diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. They can also use oral medications. Some, but nowhere near all, take insulin. T1 people have no choice but to take insulin. Our condition is also far more brittle as we make no insulin on our down. Not having the ability to inject insulin via pump/syringe/pen results in a painful and undignified death 100% of the time. Because people with T1 tend to be diagnosed far younger than those with T2 (and because T1 is far more brutal) our life expectancy is around 20 years less than the average person. We experience a full range of complications from gastroparesis to kidney disease t

The #1 Tastiest Post Workout Snack (low carb, gluten free)

One of the foods I missed the most when I switched eating real foods were protein bars. Unfortunately, with ingredients like soy protein (GMO and toxic), high fructose corn syrup (causes obesity and promotes disease), artificial sweeteners (damages metabolism), 99% of protein bars are off limits. For those of us that still want to get their protein bar fix, I have an excellent “Paleo” alternative for you. These protein bars are grain free, gluten free, low carb, and taste absolutely delicious. When you make them, you will be blown away that unprocessed, real food could taste this good! Here’s the recipe: ----------------------------------------- Chocolate Hazelnut Protein Bars (low carb, grain free, gluten free) 1 cup egg white protein powder (we use Jay Robb’s brand) 1/3rd cup hazelnut butter 2 tbs cocoa powder ½ tsp cinnamon ½ cup coconut oil 1/3rd cup honey INSTRUCTIONS Place all of the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well.  Heat the honey and coconu
